Float plane access for fly-in fishing trips in Canada
Most fly-in fishing trips in Canada require the outfitter or lodge to hire out an independent float plane charter service, or you may be responsible for it yourself. At Fletcher Lake Lodge, we have developed relationships with multiple air carriers that will transport you to and from Fletcher Lake Lodge from multiple locations for your fly-in fishing trip in Canada. In most cases your transportation via float plane to our lodge is part of your package, unless you have other options.
Most of our guests fly out of Kenora, Ontario using a couple of different float plane carriers. We also have the capability of picking you up in Winnipeg, Manitoba or in Thunder Bay, Ontario. For assistance, contact us first and we will be able to help you with your flight plans for travel to Fletcher Lake Lodge. We will be able to provide the best option for your fishing party. Remember, Fletcher Lake Lodge is not accessible by road, so travel here via a float plane is a must.
When you contact us, we will need to know a few things before helping with travel arrangements, including arrival and departure dates, party size, and what you plan on bringing. Based on the size of the float planes, there are weight limitations per person for carry-on gear. If you look at our page listing what to bring, you will get an idea of what items you will need based on your trip options. Fletcher Lake Lodge owns our own float plane that we use to transport guests to our remote outpost fishing camps located on other lakes that are accessible only by a float plane. Bruce MacLean is a licensed pilot with over 20 years of experience flying a float plane in and out of these remote Canadian lakes.
